Love God’s Love!
One of the most trending phrases these days is, “Love their Love”. I think it has actually become one of my favorite phrases, because I just love, Love. But, what is an even more profound phrase is "Love God’s Love”. This one does not seem to trend as much, even if it is the absolute most powerful truth.
The fact of the matter is, God is Love. God does not just have the character of love. God is the definition of Love. 1 John 4:8 says,
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
I am often perplexed at the fact that so many speak about their love for love, yet, they do not want to embrace God, who is actually love. How can we speak of love, when we don’t even know God. It is the epitome of an oxymoron. As a matter of fact, some people profess their hatred for God. But, in the same breath, they profess to love people. The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). The lack of understanding and wisdom deprives so many of the abundant life that Jesus died to afford them. We cannot love others more, until we learn to love our selves. We cannot truly love ourselves until we love God and He gives us the revelation of who He created us to be. Now, are you beginning to understand why our world is in the mess that it is in. Most of us have not even begun to understand the magnitude of value and worth that God has bestowed upon us.
During this Valentine’s Day, when love is celebrated, let us endeavor to get acquainted with Love, Actually. Endeavor to spend time with God. Pursue God until you get to know Him and love Him. Then, you will begin to understand and love you. Then you will begin to understand and love others. Then you will truly catch a glimpse of your vastly empowered value. Then you will truly begin to live and love your purpose. So, on this Valentine’s Day, my prayer is that you will celebrate with a new revelation and awareness. Love like Jesus! Live like Jesus! Be like Jesus!
