It’s The Most Wonderful Time
One of my favorite Christmas carols is, “It’s the most wonderful time” by Andy Williams. The moment I hear that song, I know we have arrived at the most wonderful time of the year. The joy that ensues is almost instantaneous. There are visions of lights, and carols and trees and gifts.
But, just about the time that I get enraptured in the Christmas nostalgia, I remember the real reason for the “Wonderfulness” of it all. Jesus made all this possible. He gave the gift that keeps on giving for eternity. He gave the gift of redemption from sin. That gives us all hope. We can now enjoy the life that God created us to live.
I love the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. It’s a must-see every Christmas and sometimes at other times of the year. The message is so profound. We are all here to impact each other. I love the line in the movie, “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings”. Of course, this is not biblically correct. But, it relays the message, that serving others, brings great rewards. Clarence, the angel, got his reward for helping George Bailey, understand the importance of his life and his impact on others. Clarence found out that there was joy in helping others. For that, he was greatly rewarded by God. This same principle applies to us as well. We are blessed to be a blessing. When you bless others, your life is greatly enriched. Christmas is not just about receiving. It is more about giving to others. This is what brings true fulfillment. God blesses sowers. He blesses those who sows what He gives them into good soil. God delights in bountiful harvests.
This season while you shop, eat, decorate, “festivate” and luxuriate, don’t forget to be a blessing to others. Don’t forget to be a blessing to God. Don’t forget to be a blessing to yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. The Bible says that this is an unwise action. Don’t over-extend yourself. Give according to the measure that you have been blessed. Don’t entertain depression. God has given you the mind of Christ to help you navigate this life effectively. “Festivate” responsibly. The best parties are the ones that leave you with an uplift not a hangover. Jesus Celebrations always come loaded with benefits and joy.
So everyone, enjoy and celebrate Jesus.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!
