Bring a Gift
The excitement of the hustle and bustle. The incessant pondering and analysis of the recipient and their likes and dislikes. The contemplation of the price, the place, the perceptions. The anticipated reaction of the recipients. The capsule called the perfect gift, is loaded and overflowing with all these activities. We all desire to give the perfect gift, to the perfect person, at the perfect time. But, is that what gift-giving is all about?
When it seems that I have lost the focus of why I am gifting, I set my gaze on the Ultimate Gifter. Jesus, is not just the ultimate Gifter, He is the ultimate Gift. The ultimate Gifter, gave Himself as the Gift to the world, for the world. He gave all He was, to ensure that we could be all He created us to be. He gave selflessly. He gave out of love. He gave with an agenda, that was only to redeem and deliver. He knew that we could not afford to repay Him. But, His only request is that we accept the gift and live out the purpose for which He created us. That sounds like a Win-Win situation.
To all my Gifters, let your gift be done with love and selflessness. Give to bless and elevate. It should be a reflection of your desire to share some of yourself with someone else. Your motives your not be caught up in receiving something back or being reciprocated. A Gifter should even if they never receive anything in return. The ultimate reward can only come from God, anyway. The ultimate Gifter rewards well. Trust me!
This Christmas season don’t forget to bring a gift! Even more important, don’t forget to give a gift to the Ultimate Gifter. After all, we are celebrating Him, Jesus. If we focus on bringing a gift to the Ultimate Gifter, we will never have problem with gifting others. If you focus on love, your motives will never go awry. If you focus on blessing others, like you have been blessed, your motives will never go awry. To all my Gifters out there, be a demonstration of God’s power and love this season. The Ultimate Gifter set the precedence.
