When it comes to evaluating the effectiveness of a message or product, the age-old debate of style versus substance often emerges. Style refers to the aesthetic appeal, presentation, or outward appearance, while substance delves into the actual content, value, or essence.

While style can initially attract attention and create a positive first impression, it is substance that ultimately sustains long-term engagement and loyalty. A visually appealing website may capture initial interest, but if the content lacks depth or relevance, visitors are unlikely to return.

Conversely, a plain-looking but highly informative website will likely retain visitors through the value of its content. In this scenario, substance proves more critical than style in fostering ongoing engagement and building credibility.

To strike a balance between style and substance, businesses must prioritize providing valuable content while also investing in visually appealing design elements. A harmonious blend of both style and substance is key to effectively conveying messages, attracting and retaining customers, and ultimately driving success in today's competitive marketplace.

My question to you is, “Are you Style or Substance?” An additional option would be, “Are you Style and Substance?” Life makes its demands on us, to produce. However, embedded in our production process, must be the intentional focus on creating quality that can impact positive forward movement and change. I just watched a documentary that focused on the profitability difference between products that focus on Style versus Substance. This totally exposed the mindset and behavior of our society. Although many people gravitate towards style, it has been found that style without quality substance creates a very fickle following. We love style. But, we need substance. My personal philosophy is always maintain a balance between style and substance.

This is also a policy or moral code for my life. We must be unique in who we are and how we do what we do. But, we must be intentional about linking that style to massive substance. Substance comes from God and how he has commissioned us to live our lives. I will always refer to the fact that God created us with value and purpose. We have to connect with Him so that we could live our lives with pure substance that impacts growth everywhere we go. Luke 6:45, states,

45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

It is important that we do a “Heart Analysis” every day. Analyzing your heart will help you understand your mindset, and ultimately, your behavior. Substance is so essential, when determining if your style is impacting growth and success. We can no longer maintain that our bad behavior or even our bad style, is just who we are. We must be intentional about developing style with substance. Style with Substance will stand the test of times. Style with Substance will draw the profitable audience. Style with Substance will help establish generational wealth. Style with Substance will help to empower value in others long after we depart from this earth.

Your Purpose is needed and valued in the earth. Don’t waste your value, living a life that lacks Substance. The world is waiting on your Substance to show up. Show up, already!!!!
